Abstract
Inflammation has been implicated in the pathogenesis of many diseases including arthritis, Alzheimer's disease, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease. Imaging and therapy of inflammation is therefore crucial for the management of a plethora of diseases. In recent years we have developed a series of pH- or reactive oxygen species (ROS)-responsive materials by functional modification of cyclodextrins. Nanoparticles derived from luminol-conjugated materials can serve as luminescent nanoprobes for noninvasive imaging of different inflammatory diseases. On the other hand, ROS-responsive nanoparticles based on phenylboronic acid pinacol ester-conjugated cyclodextrins can be used for targeted treatment of diverse diseases, such as colitis, atherosclerosis, restenosis, and abdominal aortic aneurysm. Using different candidate drugs, we demonstrated the therapeutic advantages of these ROS-responsive nanovehicles. Also, we proposed a new strategy for targeted treatment of inflammatory diseases, using cyclodextrin material-derived nanoparticles with hydrogen peroxide or broad-spectrum ROS eliminating capability. Importantly, extensive studies indicated that nanoparticles based on these ROS-sensitive cyclodextrin materials displayed good safety profiles.

张建祥,陆军军医大学药学与检验医学系教授,博导,先后入选原总后优秀青年科技人才、教育部新世纪优秀人才、陆军科技英才和重庆·英才创新领军人才。担任中国药学会药剂专业委员会青年委员、中国药理学会抗炎免疫药理学专业委员会常委、中国生物物理学会临床分子诊断分会委员、中国抗癌协会纳米肿瘤学专业委员会常委、四川省第二届药品安全专家委员会专家、重庆市药品监督管理局药品、医疗器械、化妆品专家委员会委员、国家重点研发计划专项评审专家、国家科技奖评审专家、Chinese Medicine编委、《中华烧伤杂志》编委、Asian Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences青年编委等学术职务。长期从事抗炎药物材料及释药系统研究,先后主持国家自然科学基金等课题10余项;在ACS Nano、Adv Funct Mater、Adv Mater、Adv Sci、Biomaterials、JACC、J Control Release、Mater Today、Nano Lett、Nano Today、Sci Adv、Small等刊物发表SCI收录论著100余篇,获授权国家发明专利11项。
